The Stoutenburg Memorial Hockey Tournament aims to raise awareness of, and money for, public access defibrillators in cooperation with Heart Niagara. PADs can help save lives. Please help us make our public places safer for everyone by taking part in the tournament as a player or a donor.
In August of 2002, Peter Stoutenburg ("Stouty") lost his life to an undetectable heart attack at the young, healthy age of 54. He was a dedicated father, husband, business man, hockey coach, community volunteer and St.Catharines fundraiser as well as an accomplished athlete who was still in great shape at the time of his heart attack.
In
May of 2003, friends and family from across Ontario who knew and loved
Peter contributed to an exciting event that raised over $14,000. Half of
the money raised was dedicated to purchasing Public Access
Defibrilators (PAD) for four of St.Catharines' arenas. One of these
defibrilators saved a life in 2008!
In April of 2010, we
organized the inaugural "Pete Stoutenburg Memorial Hockey Tournament"
honouring the fathers of four of the participants - all of whom had died
of heart attacks at a young age (Larry Hubbard, Gordon Cairns, Tilmon
Arsenault and Pete Stoutenburg).
