Background
In May of 2003, friends and family from across Ontario who knew and loved Peter contributed to an exciting event that raised over $14,000. Half of the money raised was dedicated to purchasing Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) for four of St. Catharines arenas. One of these defibrillators saved a life in 2008!
In April of 2010, we organized the inaugural "Pete Stoutenburg Memorial Hockey Tournament" honouring the fathers of four of the participants - all of whom had died of heart attacks at a young age (Larry Hubbard, Gordon Cairns, Tillman Arsenault and Pete Stoutenburg).
Event Summary
In conjunction with Heart Niagara, a registered charity, 100 hockey players, along with
friends, families and co-workers of these fathers raised over $40,000 in the
last three years to purchase 10 new PADs for the City of St. Catharines. Thank
you to everyone who contributed.
The next Pete Stoutenburg Memorial Hockey Tournament will be held on Friday,
April 4th (6:00pm-10:00pm) and Saturday, April 5th (9:00am-6:00pm), 2014 at
Haig Bowl Arena, St. Catharines, ON.
